Here you will find a description of each of the YAA Volunteer Roles:

  • Activity Volunteer

The role of Activity Volunteer is to provide support for the creative skills workshops, operated by Yorkshire Air Ambulance as part of our Building Bridges project.

As an Activity Volunteer you will be required to assist the creative skills workshop lead in providing the agreed activities to the group at the scheduled times throughout the year. By doing so you will build strong relationships with the group, their coordinators, and leaders.

Our Building Bridges project delivers free creative workshops to community groups in Yorkshire. The workshops are delivered over an agreed number of weeks, typically 4-6. They are based on arts, crafts, and recycling and are suitable for people of all ages. Items made during the workshops will be sold by YAA with funds going toward the development of the project. The project has been developed to help build bridges between communities and raise awareness of the work of YAA.

We could also encourage Activity Volunteers to promote further YAA awareness and joint fundraising opportunities with the groups to ensure the relationship continues where possible.

Activity Volunteers will be supported by their YAA staff contact and will also have the opportunity to grow and develop their personal and professional confidence as part of the programme. There will be opportunities to progress to leading creative skills workshops.

  • Fundraising Volunteer

This role is an ‘all rounder’ and ideal if you are interested in assisting with a variety of events to help raise funds and awareness of the Charity. You will be attending community events as a representative of the YAA and typical duties would include working on and set up of a stall, attending a cheque presentation, collecting tins, wearing our mascot or bucket collecting at a supermarket!

  • Community Event Volunteer

As a Community Event Volunteer, you will predominantly be helping with the set up and management of stalls across the region with our official merchandise on offer and accepting donations. These are in a large variety of locations, outdoor events or inside venues such as shopping centres and supermarkets. The events we attend are lots of fun and no two days are the same. Our staff and volunteers always get a warm welcome wherever we go.

  • Public Speaker

Our speakers attend numerous locations in their area to talk to a variety of groups about the life-saving work of the YAA. We provide the equipment along with an informative presentation and full training will be provided. Our talks are extremely popular and most enjoyable. There is the opportunity to take along some official merchandise at most talks as well as accept donations. Talks could include a shorter speech at a Cheque Presentation or at a Dinner. Talks could also be online from the comfort of your own home!

  • Collection Tin Steward

Our collecting tin stewards visit many shops and businesses across the region and is a substantial income for the Charity. The role will also include counting and banking of these funds as well as ensuring the paperwork is completed correctly.
