The BBC Helicopter Heroes team were a huge part of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance operations between 2007 and 2014. Over seven years, we were proud to work with the team who produced eight- series of the hit fly-on-the-wall documentary series.
The programmes followed the day to day work of our two helicopters attending life-saving missions across the vast Yorkshire region, allowing viewers an insight to what the Charity does, and how donated monies are spent. The series were all produced on site at our Air Bases and the team were very much part of our crew.
130 fantastic episodes aired over those seven years, giving our supporters an insight to the work we do each and every day, as well as opening up the world of the Air Ambulance industry to viewers.
We would like to acknowledge the fantastic team who worked and flew with us over those seven years.

Helicopter Heroes has without a doubt, been a fantastic hit, not only for the YAA but also for other Air Ambulances in the UK. We hope that is has helped to heighten the profile of other Air Ambulance charities too and assisted them in their fundraising efforts.
We were very sad to learn in mid 2014 that the BBC would not be producing anymore Helicopter Heroes programmes, however we take comfort in the fact that we were privileged to have them with us for seven wonderful years. Repeats of the series can often be found on other digital channels.
