Are you an Executor, looking to pay in a legacy?

All generous gifts in Wills, or legacies, are looked after by our Admin Team, based at our head office in Elland. In order to properly administer these gifts to the Charity, there are some details we need to request from you as Executor and also about the person who has kindly left the gift.

We would be very grateful if you could provide a covering letter or email which includes the following information (if you choose to pay in the gift online, you will be able to provide these details during the online process):

  • The full name and title of the deceased
  • Their last address
  • The date of death
  • The Executor’s name and contact details
  • A copy of the will and any codicils (photocopy/scan/photo acceptable). This shows our auditors that the charity is entitled to the legacy gift and that the charity has complied with any special wishes
  • If the gift is a residuary legacy, where Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) is left a share or percentage of an estate, please include a copy of the final estate accounts
  • If possible, please include any information about the reason for the legacy

Please post to our head office: Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Cayley House, 10 South Lane, Elland, West Yorkshire, HX5 0HQ or email to info@yaa.org.uk

This information is required in order for us to be able to issue the Executor with a receipt and discharge. As we are a registered charity, it also helps us to comply with Charity Commission auditing requirements. You can read further guidance about administering residuary gifts in the Administration of a charitable estate – notes for executors leaflet.

We will also be able to amend our donor record for the deceased, if applicable.

Payment online

The easiest way to pay in a legacy is to do so here online. You will be asked to fill in the details outlined above and will be able to upload the necessary documents, or you can post those in if you wish. When you visit this page ‘Paying in a legacy/Gift from a Will’ will be pre-selected as the Donation Type, but if you are visiting the Donation page any other way, please select this as your Donation Type.

Payment by bank transfer (BACS)

In order to help us identify the payment when it reaches the charity accounts, we would please ask for you to write to, or email us providing the details outlined above. Please use the name of the deceased as the payment reference and use the following bank details:

Sort Code: 30-90-57

Account Number: 00244035

Account Name: Yorkshire Air Ambulance Ltd

Bank Address: Lloyds Bank, 75 Commercial Street, Batley, West Yorkshire, WF17 5EQ

(Please note that Gift Aid cannot be applied to legacy payments.)

Payment by cheque

If you are paying in a legacy by cheque, please make it payable to ‘Yorkshire Air Ambulance’, and post, together with a covering letter including the details outlined above, to Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Cayley House, 10 South Lane, Elland, West Yorkshire, HX5 0HQ

Once we have received the gift, we will send you a thank you letter or email as a receipt acknowledging payment.

We hope this page answers the most frequent questions that many non-professional Executors have. However, if you have any other queries about administering a Will that includes a gift to Yorkshire Air Ambulance, please contact our Legacies Manager, contact details below.
