Seeds of Dedication, A Lasting Tribute
At Yorkshire Air Ambulance, we know how important it is to remember and honour loved ones in ways that feel truly meaningful. That’s why we’ve created our Seeds of Dedication, serving as a lasting tribute to those we cherish.
The sycamore seed, often called a “helicopter seed,” was chosen as the symbol for our in-memory events due to its unique spiralling flight that mirrors the rotor blades of our helicopters, serving as a poignant reminder of our lifesaving work.
Each Seed of Dedication is more than just a keepsake. Designed by one of our own team members and specially crafted here in Yorkshire, it represents the continual cycle of life, reminding us how the love and impact of those we cherish continue to grow and inspire in the lives they touched.
By dedicating a seed, with a minimum donation of £50, you’re not only celebrating the life of someone special but also helping Yorkshire Air Ambulance continue to bring hope and lifesaving care to those who need it most.

What You Will Receive?
Your beautifully crafted seed will arrive in a bespoke display box, accompanied by a card explaining its significance, with the handwritten name of the person you are dedicating the seed to.
Whether you choose to display it at home, use it as a decorative piece, or keep it as a personal memento, your Seed of Dedication serves as a meaningful connection to the memories you hold dear.
You will also be invited to join our In Memory event at Roundhay Park on the afternoon of Saturday, 20th September 2025 (seeds dedicated before 4 pm on Wednesday, 17th September 2025), where you will be able to take your seed away with you. If you are not able to or do not wish to attend the event, we can either display your seed at the event and post it to you afterwards, or send it to you right away. You will be able to choose which option you prefer.
Join us in person
When you dedicate a seed, you’ll be invited to an exclusive in-memory event at our Reflection and Remembrance Garden. These private gatherings offer a unique opportunity to honour your loved one alongside others who share this special connection. Attendance at this event is entirely optional. During the dedication process you will be asked if you would like to have your seed posted out to you straight away, if you would like to attend the event (where you can take your seed away with you or opt to have it sent to you afterwards), or have the seed form part of a collective tribute at the event and sent on to you afterwards, without you attending the event.
During the event, a member of our team will tell us more about the inspiration behind the seed design. Your seed will be displayed in the garden’s pergola as part of a collective tribute. Tea and coffee will be served, and you can choose to take your seed home that day sent to you afterwards.
About the Reflection and Remembrance Garden
Nestled within the Specialist Gardens of Roundhay Park, Leeds, our Reflection and Remembrance Garden is a serene space made possible by the generous support of several organisations. Designed by York-based landscape architect Kate Smithson, the garden officially opened to the public in late 2024.
At its heart stands a striking yellow pergola, inspired by the rotor blades of our helicopters, surrounded by gentle planting and a calming reflective pool, creating a tranquil setting for remembrance and reflection.

Yes, you can dedicate your seed to anyone, this could be a person, two people, a family or a pet.
There is a limited amount of space on the card for us to handwrite the name of the person you are dedicating your seed to; therefore, we have set a limit of 45 characters, including spaces.
If you have selected to attend the in-memory event on 20th September 2025, you will be able to take your seed with you after the event, or we can post it on to you afterwards if you would prefer not to take it with you on the day. If you are not attending the event, your seed will either be posted to you following the event or posted out to you straightaway, depending on which option you choose. Seeds posted will be sent by Royal Mail.
