Four Rangers and three Leaders from the First Usworth Guides ‘hung’ over the edge of Langley Castle and then abseiled down to raise funds for Yorkshire Air Ambulance. So far they have nearly quadrupled their initial fundraising target on their JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/1stusworthguidesandrangers.
One of the brave girls, Dizzy, was involved in a climbing accident in June 2019. She fell 20ft and broke her left femur and fractured her pelvis. Thanks to Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team, she was treated at the scene and then carried 300ft down the rocky path to the awaiting helicopter to transport her to the hospital. Dizzy was hoping to climb Mount Toubkal in Morocco but that has been postponed twice due to the pandemic. Dizzy said, “These teams do amazing jobs and I can’t thank them enough for the service that they provide.”

Their fundraising really is the lifeblood of the charity and contributes enormously to the £12,000 needed each day to keep the two yellow helicopters flying across Yorkshire saving lives”.
