Our new CEO, Kathryn Marsden OBE, has now completed her first week in post at YAA.
Having commenced her role on Monday, 9 March, Kathryn begins leading the charity into its next chapter, bringing extensive experience in health and social care leadership and a strong commitment to improving outcomes for patients and strengthening Yorkshire Air Ambulance’s connection with the communities it serves.
With more than 36 years leading organisations across health and social care, Kathryn has built her career around strengthening services and helping organisations deliver the best possible care, supporting teams through change, growth, and new opportunities to improve outcomes for the people they serve.
Reflecting on her first week in post at YAA, Kathryn said, “I really couldn’t wait to get started on Monday, and I’ve had a great first week in my new role. There is lots to learn and I will be spending my first few months at YAA getting to know the team and engaging deeper with the organisation to understand its drivers and challenges.”
Over the coming weeks, Kathryn will continue her induction across the charity, spending time with clinical, aviation and charity teams to gain a greater understanding of the people, values and expertise that underpin Yorkshire Air Ambulance. This will provide an opportunity to listen, learn, and build relationships with those who deliver and sustain the service every day.
Outside of work, Kathryn enjoys family life and is a passionate equestrian & competitive carriage driver, spending much of her time caring for her horses, Dave and Alex, alongside dog Max and the other menagerie of animals at her home farm.
Kathryn joins Yorkshire Air Ambulance at an important moment in its history, as the charity continues to strengthen its clinical capabilities and prepares to open its new Northern Air Base later this year.
With her leadership, the charity enters its next chapter with renewed energy and focus, building on the strong foundations already in place and helping shape its future for years to come.
