We need to raise £7,200 per day to keep our air ambulances flying

Volunteers

Why we need volunteers

Yorkshire Air Ambulance’s aim to save lives across your region is made possible through the generosity of individuals who give up their time to raise vital funds and awareness of the charity in their local communities.

Volunteers provide much needed additional support to the charity by promoting closer working relationships within our local communities, increasing fundraising opportunities, developing new initiatives and also providing valuable skills and experience.

The volunteering roles that are available are very flexible and volunteers can help us on a regular or occasional basis.

For further details on becoming a Volunteer for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Please contact Lisa Holland on 01422 237900 or

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of volunteering for Yorkshire Air Ambulance?
Being a Yorkshire Air Ambulance volunteer can be a great way of helping a regional charity that provides a lifesaving service for your local community. It is a great way of meeting new people and learning new skills while donating your time and skills to a good cause.

Who volunteers for Yorkshire Air Ambulance?
We welcome people from all walks of life. Some of our volunteers work fulltime and volunteer at evenings or weekends. Other volunteers have had a break from their careers and want to gain new skills and we have many retired people who are looking to put their free time and skills to good use.

How do I become a volunteer?
Once you have found a role that you would like to apply for, download an application form and return it to our charity office address.

None of the volunteer roles suit me, can I still help?
In the past Yorkshire Air Ambulance has benefited from the help of accountants, HR executives, solicitors and auctioneers to name but a few. If you have a professional skill which you think could be beneficial to the charity, please contact the Volunteer Manager on: 01422 237900.

How much time do I have to give?
This depends on you and how much time you would wish to donate. All volunteer roles are flexible and we appreciate whatever time you are able to give us.

What skills and experience do I need?
Many of our volunteer roles do not require any experience or specialist skills. We will provide all the training and information you need. All we require for the majority of our roles is your time, energy and enthusiasm.

Do I need to supply references?
It is the charity’s procedure to ask for references for all our volunteer roles and we ask you to supply this information on the application form. For certain volunteer roles a Criminal Records Bureau check may be required.

What support and training will I be given?
Volunteers receive an induction and will be given training and support when joining the charity. Staff members and more experienced volunteers are on hand to provide ongoing help and support.

Can I claim expenses?
Yorkshire Air Ambulance volunteers do not receive payment for their work but the charity will reimburse reasonable travel expenses and if you are volunteering for a full day the cost of a sandwich lunch. Any other out of pocket expenses will only be reimbursed on approval by a staff member.
