Why we need volunteers
Volunteers provide much needed additional support to the Charity by promoting closer working relationships within our local communities, increasing fundraising opportunities, developing new initiatives and also providing valuable volunteering roles that are available are very flexible and volunteers can help us on a regular or occasional basis.

“Like many people, I first became aware of the charitable status of the UK Air Ambulance services when they had a significant impact on my own life.
A number of years ago my best friend was picked up by the Air Ambulance in Cornwall after he was involved in a motor cycle accident. At his funeral, a collection was held for the Air Ambulance and his parents asked if I would ensure the money got to the charity.
After meeting the people involved, I decided that I would like to get involved in helping this vital service keep going and so approached Yorkshire Air Ambulance offering to help in any way I could...

Volunteers are an integral part of the team, without help of people such as you we could not raise the much needed funds to keep this vital service flying.
The Volunteering opportunities available are:
• Public Speakers – to give talks to groups, clubs and organisations.
• Collection Box & Information Point Stewards – to manage tins & information points.
• Cheque Presentation Speakers – to accept donations on behalf of the Charity.
• Corporate Charity Champions
• Community Event Fundraisers
Being a Yorkshire Air Ambulance volunteer can be a great way of helping a regional Charity that provides a lifesaving service for your local community. It is a great way of meeting new people and learning new skills while donating your time and skills to a good cause.
We welcome people from all walks of life. Some of our volunteers work fulltime and volunteer at evenings or weekends. Other volunteers have had a break from their careers and want to gain new skills and we have many retired people who are looking to put their free time and skills to good use.

In the past Yorkshire Air Ambulance has benefited from the help of accountants, HR executives, solicitors and auctioneers to name but a few. If you have a professional skill which you think could be beneficial to the Charity, please contact Charity HQ on 01422 237900.
Many of our volunteer roles do not require any experience or specialist skills. We will provide all the training and information you need. All we require for the majority of our roles is your time, energy and enthusiasm.
It is the Charity’s procedure to ask for references for all our volunteer roles and we ask you to supply this information on the application form. For certain volunteer roles a Criminal Records Bureau check may be required.
Volunteers receive an induction and will be given training and support when joining the Charity. Staff members and more experienced volunteers are on hand to provide ongoing help and support.
Yorkshire Air Ambulance volunteers do not receive payment for their work but the Charity will reimburse reasonable travel expenses and if you are volunteering for a full day the cost of a sandwich lunch. Any other out of pocket expenses will only be reimbursed on approval by a staff member.
