St Georges Court B&B to host charity Farmhouse Big Breakfast

Old Home Farm, High Grantley, Ripon HG4 3PJ

This year’s hosts are Lindsey and Will Hitchen, of St George’s Court B&B, based at Old Home Farm, High Grantley, near Ripon.

It will be the couple’s second Big Breakfast fund-raiser. The first in 2011 saw over 200 breakfasts using locally produced food cooked and served, netting £3,350 for national farming charity, the Addington Fund and Yorkshire Air Ambulance, and the same two bodies are set to benefit again this year.

The three-day event takes place on January 23, 24 and 25, with two servings each day between 10.30 and 12.30, and 1.30 and 3.30.

Mr and Mrs Hitchen are long-standing members of Farm Stay UK, the country’s largest network of farm-based accommodation providers.

“We received tremendous support at our inaugural Big Breakfast seven years ago and hope for another bumper turnout again this year in order to raise yet more much-needed funds for these two key and extremely worthwhile organisations,” said Mrs Hitchen.

Tickets, priced at £15 per head, are now available and can be ordered direct from Mrs Hitchen on 01765 620618, mobile 07725 780362, or email info@stgeorgescourt.co.uk

The main sponsor this year is Eura Audit in Ripon, with additional support from Gold Top Milk, Topcliffe mushroom grower Trevor Fothergill, Harrogate Spa Water, Miller Food Service in York, Bleiker’s Smokehouse, Leeming Bar, and Ian Taylor Eggs, of Burton Leonard. Other potential sponsors are welcome. They, too, should contact Mrs Hitchen.

Over the years, Yorkshire Farmhouse Big Breakfasts have raised many thousands of pounds for charity, principally the Addington Fund, which offers a vital lifeline and safety net to farmers in desperate need of housing or emergency funds, and Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
