Yorkshire Rows

In December 2015, Yorkshire Rows will be setting off on a herculean challenge to row 3000 nautical miles across the Atlantic ocean.  It is no surprise that more people have been into space or climbed Everest than have rowed the Atlantic. It takes a certain kind of person to keep going when faced with blisters, salt rash, sharks and sleep deprivation. That is why this race is one of the toughest races on earth.

The Yorkshire rows aim to raise as much money as they can for their chosen charities and to inspire others. They say, If four working mums can row an ocean, with determination and hard work, anyone can achieve anything!

As a warm up in May this year we rowed across the North Sea from Suffolk to Holland. They were the first women to accomplish this huge challenge.

As well as being working mums with two children each, they are a highly organised team with a range of complementary skills that will enable them to handle all the challenges this endeavor will throw their way.

Janette Benaddi – 50,  mum and a clinical researcher
“Doing it for the charities and doing it for the girls”

Helen Butters –  44,  mum and a communications expert in the NHS
“During my Dad’s illness he amazed and inspired me with his courage, bravery and fight to the end. I hope he will be with me in spirit when I am faced with the unpredictable vicious Atlantic Ocean”

Niki Doeg – 43, mum and business owner
“Every single person is capable of so much more than they realise, with hard work, dedication and the support of those around them, amazing feats can be achieved”

Frances Davies – 46, mum and solicitor
“This challenge has everything – it’s going to stretch us physically, mentally,  financially and emotionally. Truly life changing!”

Land Crew:
The hard work is all about getting to the start line….and we can’t do this without the help and support of an amazing land crew including our family friends and other professionals.
