Yorkshire Round Expedition Run - Al Ashworth, 40 year old Army reservist from Richmond North Yorkshire.
All over Yorkshire!
The 'Yorkshire Round' Expedition run will be a supported individual run around the historic boundary of Yorkshire to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Royal British Legion. I will be starting the run on the 4th June 2016 from a small village in the North-east of the county called Warrenby. From there i will be going anti-clockwise around the Yorkshire boundary, I hope to complete the route within 30 days so i will need to average well over 20 miles per day. In reality some days will be more and some less. I will be supported by one other person who will drive around the route with my truck and caravan, meeting me at road crossings throughout the route for food, water and rest. The following is not an exhaustive list but highlights a few prominent places i will be going through or near;
Warrenby, Middlesbrough, Yarm, Barnard Castle, Middleton in Teesdale, Tan Hill Public House, Sedbergh, Low Bentham, North of Clitheroe, Todmorden, Mossley, South Sheffield, Bawtry, Humber Bridge, Hull, Spurn Point, Withernsea, Hornsea, Flamborough, Filey, Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay, Whitby, Saltburn by Sea, Redcar, Warrenby.
There is a facebook page by the name of 'Yorkshire Round' with various links to charity giving pages and i will be blogging throughout the route.
If anyone would like to join me for a day or two running your welcome. Whilst i am on the route you will be able to find out where i am via facebook, so just turn up with your kit and a tent!
Also If anyone lives on or near the Yorkshire boundary (or anywhere really) and wants to help as i go round i will be needing plenty of fuel to keep me going so any food/cakes etc of any description would be greatly appreciated! or just letting me park the caravan in your drive for a night, please get in touch.
And finally please give generously to the YAA and RBL.
