Ripponden Festival Group Raise Funds

Posted by Pearl Saville

The Ripponden Festival Group was delighted to present a cheque for over £2,000 to Rose Taylor, Yorkshire Air Ambulance West Yorkshire Volunteer. YAA was the Group’s chosen charity for proceeds from the 2017 Christmas Market which was held in the village at the beginning of December.  With over 40 stalls, festive music, a vintage tractor parade carrying Father Christmas and pantomime characters, and a stunning laser show and saxophone finale from Ellie Sax, the Market was a huge success bringing people into the village from far and wide.

All the Group members are volunteers from the Ripponden community who decided that a festive event in the village would be a great way of bringing people together and would also increase footfall in the area to help local businesses.

Charles Moran, chairman of the Ripponden Festival Group said, “We are pleased to support such a worthwhile cause for a vital service that provides rapid transfer to a hospital where a road journey could take a considerable time.  The Market itself has gained tremendous support in the two years it has been running and we look forward to December 2018 when we plan to hold a Christmas Market once again in the village.”

The Festival Group members are Steven, Louise and Ella Cahill, Charles and Jane Moran, Rob Holden, Steve and Debbie McCarley, Carly Snell, Tim Eaton-Walker, Mark Shelton, Kate Turner and Harry Meredith.
